Table Lamp Debuts at Furniture Fair

CENTERBROOK, Conn. -- The Gustave Table Lamp designed by Centerbrook Partner Mark Simon will be introduced this week at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Running from May 17-20, the ICFF is billed as North America’s premier showcase for contemporary design, attracting “those in determined pursuit of design’s timely truths and latest trends.” Simon’s lamp is produced and sold by Lights Up, a Brooklyn, New York company, which will have an exhibit at the fair.

“This is a table lamp, literally, sized to sit on a table, but it has a small shelf for a pen or paperback or what have you,” said Simon. “It was inspired by a lifelong love of all things French and, of course, by a budding architect’s favorite toy, the Erector Set.”

Simon, FAIA, has designed furniture specifically for buildings as well as for retail companies such as Formica, Gordon, and Curran. His Slapstick Table has won several awards, including one from the Industrial Designers Society of America. He has created cabinets, lighting fixtures, chairs, banquettes, sideboards, and coatracks. His design for New Hearth Showroom in New York City garnered an AIA Honor Award.
