Centerbrook was selected in 2006 by the Collegiate School, a top-tier Richmond, Virginia, independent school, to design its new dining hall and library buildings. Using workshops with the School community, Centerbrook updated a master plan proposal by Richmond-based Blanchard Associates for two separate buildings, incorporating them into a single large structure. Currently in design, the Dining and Academic Commons' approximately 77,000 gross square feet will house the Upper School Library, an Upper School dining facility, a central kitchen, offices for the Head of School, and a Central Plant. The library will contain informal lounges, group study spaces, a Media Lab, a Writing Center; stacks for the School's 25,000 volumes, offices, classrooms, and support spaces.
