Undertaken for the friends of the Chicago River, the Chicago River Plan was a study of the main branch, north branch and south branch of the Chicago River identifying opportunities for public and private investment along its banks and illustrating in detail six projects for early implementation. Among those projects was the lighting of the principal bridges across the main branch in downtown Chicago.
