Humanescence installed at the Health Sciences Library in Colorado
'Humanescence’ is a 25-foot sculpture of the human anatomy designed by Rae Douglass for the lobby of the University of Colorado’s new Health Sciences Library in Aurora. Anatomical digital features from the National Library of Medicine’s Visible Human Project were transcribed on the sculpture’s stainless steel filaments. Lit at the top and bottom, the dynamic sculpture changes when viewed from different vantage points or in different light. ‘Humanescence’ melds science and art in this library devoted to medicine.
Centerbrook designed the Health Sciences Library in collaboration with Davis Partnership Architects of Denver.
