Centerbrook projects ranging from a restored mid-century modern laboratory to a brand-new university arena were regionally, nationally, and internationally recognized in 2023.
Fairfield University’s Leo D. Mahoney Arena, completed in November of 2022, received three awards, including recognition from the Connecticut Building Congress for exceptional project team collaboration.
Receiving industry accolades for new and conceptual work, Centerbrook was also recognized for transformations to existing buildings. Shepherd’s Run, a 1930s manor house turned boutique hotel and resort, received the Chicago Athenaeum’s prestigious American Architecture Award, which celebrates excellence in architecture and urbanism in the United States. The restoration of Demerec Laboratory at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory garnered praise from Docomomo US, an organization dedicated to the preservation of Modernist movement architecture. The renowned historic laboratory was honored with a Design Award of Excellence, Docomomo US’s top award.
Centerbrook’s recognition extended beyond design excellence. The New England chapter of the American Institute of Architects presented Centerbrook with an Emerging Professional Friendly Firm Award, which acknowledges firms dedicated to the support and elevation of the next generation of architects.
